5. We can already see the effect of Trump’s rhetoric on Israeli society. Since October 2023, rightwing ministers and political activists have been calling for a EUPHEMISTIC “voluntary emigration” of Palestinians from Gaza, and yet Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had sought to keep a safe distance from such ideas.

6. The idea of forced displacement was broadly considered so beyond the PALE that mainstream pollsters did not even pose the question in their Israeli public opinion surveys.

7. This is a scenario that would not only mean the likely death of the hostages, but an increasingly theocratic Jewish republic premised upon destruction and CONQUEST.
